Justin Bieber Knows People Hate The Idea Of Him

Justin Bieber is a good example of why speaking in absolutes is often a bad thing. For a long time, I lumped him in with other teenage pop stars and mistakenly assumed he was a prepackaged commodity, but as I’ve read more and more interviews and listened to more and more music, it’s become increasingly obvious that he’s a good dude just trying to carve out life on his own terms. That he happens to have a great voice and boyish good looks are attributes that serve him well in the music industry but are not the characteristics that define him. If you don’t believe me, check out this awesome quote he offered up in an interview withV Magazine

"A lot of people say they hate Justin Bieber who haven't even listened to my music. They just hate the idea of me."
You could interpret those words as a little bitter and hostile, but it’s hard to do so when they’re so fitting for the predicament he’s in. A lot of people are bothered by the fact that the Biebs is so wholesome. To be perfectly honest, it sort of rubs me the wrong way too, but not everyone who lives on the straight and narrow has a holier than thou attitude. Justin’s never really put down the choices of others. He’s just continued to do his thing, which if he has his way, will propel him to even greater heights.

"I want to be better than anybody who's ever done it. And in order to do that, I need to strive to be the best, be good to people and treat people with respect, and work as hard as I can. Because for me, I work so hard and this consumes my life.”

Life is too short not to work as hard as possible at what you care about. For Justin, that’s not only music but doing nice things for the people around him. He recently bought his childhood friend a car and took his girlfriend Selena Gomez on the coolest date ever. I doubt he’ll someday be considered the greatest pop star in the world, but a pretty damn good musician isn’t such a bad fate.

Did Justin Bieber really compare himself to Floyd Mayweather?

It's true: Pop star Justin Bieber thinks he and Floyd Mayweather are in similar predicaments.
Once you take away the jail time and other run-ins with the law, and the fact boxer Floyd Mayweather loves to bet hundreds of thousands of dollars on sporting events (he tweeted a photo of his most recent winnings, close to $350,000 on the Alabama-LSU football game), Justin says he and Mayweather are a lot a like.
In a recent interview with V Magazine, Justin says:
"Now that I'm on top everyone wants to bring me down. Everyone's trying to tug at me and take my spot. Like Floyd Mayweather, he's the best boxer in the world. Now he is a champion. Every time he goes to a fight now, people are like, 'He's going to lose this time.'"

JB also admires Mayweather's work ethic and training:

"Like I said before, Floyd Mayweather trains every day, even when it’s off-season. When everyone else just chills and doesn’t work out because they are not fighting. He’s in there punching the bags because he wants to be the best. He wants to be better than Muhammad Ali, and that’s what he’s striving to be. He’s going to go and fight even when he doesn’t have to."
Justin says he needs to be more like Mayweather in that respect:
"When I have time off I need to, at this point—I’m going to be honest: I’m young and I’m not as disciplined as I need to be in order to be the best. If I have a day off, I need to be at the dance studio, [but instead] I’m hanging out with my friends because I’m young. But when I’m in my 20s and I’m starting to really want to be the best, I need to buckle down and work as hard as these other people."
Justin is also asked:
So no matter what Mayweather does, no matter how many people he beats, or how long he stays a champ, or if he retires or is defeated, do you think that people can ever really compare or ever say Mayweather was better than Muhammad Ali?"
He says:
"It’s different. First of all, Ali was in a different weight class, so it’s completely different. But I think it’s about making himself just as big. I mean, Michael Jackson looked up to James Brown. James Brown was an icon. And I would consider Michael Jackson bigger than James Brown. If Mayweather goes another three, four fights, and wins? Muhammad Ali lost. Mayweather has never lost in his whole career. He is like 35 years old. He hasn’t lost and people don’t give him that respect."
So, now we know who the Justin will be rooting for if the May 5 fight with Manny Pacquiao takes place. In fact, Justin retweeted Mayweather calling out Pac Man:
"Manny Pacquiao I'm calling you out let's fight May 5th and give the world what they want to see."

Wizards Warp up - TeenTV interview

Final Day of WOWP

TeenTV: Selena, you were named one of E Entertainment’s most stylish stars of 2011. What do you think you do fashion-wise that stands out?
Selena: I don’t know. I always used to say I dress like a 30-year-old. I dress older. I just like being comfortable. I like fashion but I don’t know the trends. I don’t know a lot of designers but I love what you can do with fashion, being on stage or red carpet. A lot of it is just really fun for me.

TeenTV: Are you spending New Years with Justin?
Selena: I’m actually spending it with my band. We’re going to be performing in Times Square on TV so I’m excited. I’m flying out my grandparents and my cousin. We’re just going to go out and spend it there.

TeenTV: What do you love to do when not working?
Selena: I love to do nothing! I just sit on my couch and eat and I bake.. just that.

TeenTV: Do you both have a favorite episode now that the show is over?
Selena: I didn’t have a favorite episode but I had a favorite season. Season three because we had our groove and our thing. It was perfect and it wasn’t the end just yet. I really enjoyed it.

David: Yeah, that was a great season. The last episode was something really memorable. The first episode I wrote was really memorable for me. The table read was great; hearing my name called in the script and having people laugh at jokes I wrote was a whole other type of satisfaction. I’ve written a short film that I’m directing in February. I’m very passionate about the creative side.

TeenTV: How about you, Selena, do you have ambitions to write or direct?
Selena: Oh nooo! I think I’ll stay in front of the camera. He does all that. He’s the whole package.

TeenTV: Were you surprised about the last episode… that we haven’t seen yet?
Selena: Yes I was. I didn’t know what to expect. They didn’t tell us who was gonna win (the final wizard battle). They didn’t tell us anything until the last minute; until the day we shot it. We didn’t know so I was very surprised and happy at the way it ended and I think our fans will be too.

TeenTV: Do you have a favorite fan experience over the years?
Selena: Just going overseas was really run for me. I toured the states and Canada and went to South America and that has been really cool. The fans are so passionate and fun and loud. I love that.

David: People running up to you and speaking a different language. That’s an odd experience but it’s flattering.

TeenTV: When you are out of the states, do you get to go out and do things without fans or paparazzi swamping you?
Selena: I can be a tourist. I don’t think it’s changed for me. Yeah, you get recognized occasionally but I’m not scared of that. I want to do things, go out and see the places that I’m [visiting] so, obviously, I do that.

David: It’s different that people think. All they see is what is in magazines and it’s plastered all over but it’s different in real life and not as bad as people think.

Selena: Well, Jennifer Aniston and those people probably get it a lot.

TeenTV: What is a question you are glad you won’t ever be asked again now that the show is ending?

Both: What’s your favorite spell? [we laugh]
Selena: We never know what to say on that or they ask your most embarrassing moment.
David: I won’t miss those.

TeenTV: Any New Year resolutions?
Selena: No cuz I can’t keep them. I’m awful at that. I make them every year and I forget the first week.

David: I set goals for me to accomplish each year. This year, I accomplished my goals and next year I have goals but it’s not New Year’s resolutions.

TeenTV: Who are you dying to work with?
David: For a director I’d like to work with Paul Thomas Anderson. He’s one of my favorite filmmakers ever and he’s from Studio City here in the valley (L.A. area). As for actors, I’d like to work with Ryan Gosling.

Selena: [excited] Yes! Me too….for other reasons. If you work with him please let me come visit you!

TeenTV: Selena, any dream accomplishments?
Selena: I’m in a transition position so right now I just want to make great movies, great music. I want to have fun and focus on that and more on myself.

TeenTV: What is a song on your i-pod that might surprise people?
Selena: I have a lot of rap. And I like Country and older stuff like ‘50’s stuff.

David: The Power Rangers theme song [laughter]. I’m not kidding! Like if I’m driving through the canyon, I bump it loud, especially if there aren’t a lot of cars and I’m wanting to drive fast. The Power Rangers theme song lights a fire under me.

Selena: Oh my goodness.

TeenTV: Where are you going to keep your wands from the show?
David: In my mom’s office.

Selena: Me too.

TeenTV: Do you have any lucky charm or thing that you like to take on red carpets and things like that?

David: I have a lucky pair of underwear that I didn’t even know was lucky. I’m serious. I had some tough scenes in a movie and I figured out that all the days that I did well, I was wearing this underwear. [Selena is cracking up]. So, I had to make sure I had a bunch of them and that I washed all of them.

Selena: [laughing] I don’t have anything ….like that.

TeenTV: What’s going on with each of you next?
David: I just did a film in Mexico called Little Boy. It’s a World War 2 drama. I got to work with very talented actors and learned a lot. That should be out in the latter half of 2012. Also, a movie called The Borrowers is coming out in February.

TeenTV: Selena, you last album did pretty well. Are you going to focus on your music or on movies?

Selena: I’m going to still do music. I’m very pleased and happy with how well the record did and I’m so thankful that radio and everybody has been so supportive. But, next year I’ll be doing more acting. I’ll do two films in the beginning, then some music. I’m balancing both.

TeenTV: Any wishes for your fans since the show is ending?
Selena: Just thank you for being with us for four years. We’ve really had the best time and we hope that everything we did, you guys enjoyed. Hope you are satisfied with the ending

Interview - by Starpulse.

Here's interview by Starpulse.
Q. You look lovely as always.
'Thank you! That is the power of hair and make up.

Q. What about the day after you wrapped?
David Henrie texted me & was like, 'I feel like I’ve just broken up with a girlfriend.' It was weird.

Q. Did you get to keep your wand?

Selena at EMA 2011

Yeah, it was a gift from the producers on the show, they gave me, David and Jake our wands in a little glass case with a little engraving, it was nice.

Q. Is it surreal for you when you look at your career at this point because you have so many things going on?
Sure, I’m very blessed. I love what I do. I love it. & Especially music, it was something I was passionate about but I did not expect it to take off as well as it did so I am very thankful for that as well. Doing both has been good for me, I like it.

Q. Are you doing the movie Spring Breakers with Harmony Korine?
Yeah.. I know. [Laughs] I watched all of his films. I had to fight for that role because I flew to his house in Nashville and watched all his movies. I was like, 'I want to be in your movie' and he auditioned me for like an hour or two hours and it was awesome. Then I got the part so I am excited. It is something that is very dark and is very different and I am excited to be able to work with him. Of course he is the person that is going to create all of this and he is going to help me and James Franco, Vanessa [Hudgens], Emma [Roberts] and all those people. They are all going to be so great to work against and the script is [great]. People are going to be a little surprised.

Q. Is this going to knock your fan base on its ear a little bit?
Well, the good thing about that is that it is an independent film. So it will go to film festivals but it won’t be so easy access to younger audience. They can’t go to the movies to watch that unless they went somewhere, so it wont be so much about that. It will be more for me just doing something that I am passionate about.

Q. What are you doing in the New Year’s Eve show?
I am excited, it is going to be fun. I’m singing and we do the countdown and I will be with Demi [Lovato] and it will be fun. I’m excited.

Q. Have you ever been in Times Square before on New Year?
Nope.

Glassboro student who asked Justin Bieber to prom gets Ryan Seacrest shout-out

Leon Purvis can’t believe how much buzz his prom invitation to Justin Bieber has generated in the media, especially when — last week — the story got a shout-out from media mogul Ryan Seacrest on his website and show.
“It’s crazy,” said Leon, a 16-year-old Glassboro High School junior who decided to ask his favorite singer, Bieber, to accompany him to his junior prom as a “bro” via YouTube. “It’s been on NBC, Perez Hilton and now Ryan Seacrest. I think it’s definitely hyping people up for Trending Day.”
In order for Leon’s YouTube video to garner more than the 115,850 views it already has — and potentially draw attention from Bieber and his management team — he and his classmates decided it would have to become a trending topic on Twitter. After he presented the idea to his teachers and peers, a committee was formed to promote the topic. If enough people tweet or re-tweet #GuyAsksJustinBieberToPromOnYouTube on the Trending Day — Dec. 27 beginning at 12:10 a.m. — the tweet could become a trending topic and garner more media attention.
“The word’s out there,” said Leon. “If kids can see how much has happened already, they can see what Trending Day could do.”
Leon said he’s confident, but still a little nervous, that his story could make it as one of the top 10 worldwide trending topics that day. He and the committee have been spreading the word to as many people as possible, and he said he’s received a lot of support.
“Most of the response has been positive,” said Leon. “A whole bunch of people have signed the banner, and we have it hanging up now. The online hits have been crazy too, going from 73,000 to 115,000 in a really short time.”
Leon said Seacrest’s recognition could be very important.
“Ryan Seacrest is hosting New Year’s Rockin’ Eve and Justin Bieber is performing, so it’s crazy to think of that,” he said. “Whatever happens, it’s just like Justin Bieber says, follow your dreams and never say never.”
Leon said he and his classmates will continue to spread information of how to tweet and re-tweet the topic on Dec. 27. They already visited the intermediate school to encourage the eighth graders to participate.
“They were excited,” he said. “And a lot of them already knew who I was!”
GHS French teacher Anne-Sophie Kruse, who has been advising Leon’s committee, said she was very surprised, and equally excited as Leon, when the story reached Seacrest.
“To hear him say the name of a student of mine was pretty amazing, pretty surreal,” said Kruse. “That’s what many of the students in school are saying too. To hear him talk about Leon and what he’s trying to do in such a positive way is really outstanding. He’s really respected in the industry, and we’re all surprised it’s gone so far so fast. To see such results before Trending Day means the kids have done a really great job supporting this cause.”

Justin Bieber Has A Sirius-Ly Good Time In NYC

As part of his continued Christmas album press blitz, Justin Bieber sat down for an interview at SiriusXM Studio in New York City on Friday (November 18).

During the visit, the 17-year-old Canadian sensation chatted about the typical topics as of late, including his holiday disc "Under the Mistletoe" and his heavily covered baby drama - of which the paternity lawsuit has since been dismissed by accuser Mariah Yeater.

Speaking of the baby daddy allegations, Bieber's mentor and good friend Usher recently chatted with MTV about the matter, sending the following message to Justin: "Stay strong. And know that all of this comes with the territory."
